It is easy for humans to be deceived by rumors and lies. But also humans can think that the lies were being told is the truth, Unfortunately what we do not know is that what were believing is such false beliefs. In the article "I know the truth", Jeffrey Kluger states that there is a proposed plan to build a mosque near the ground zero site, Two researchers from Ohio state university R Kelly Garrett and Erik Nisbet interviewed 750 people and only one person believed in the alleged rumor about the Islamic mosque. These two researchers came up with two conclusions which are "it is easy to manipulate people's belief systems with insinuating pictures or inflammatory qoutes" and "Even in the best of circumstances, fewer than a third of people were willing to reverse thier positions ,regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given. Although I agree with R Kelly Garrett and Erik Nisbet conclusions but, I think that humans believing in false beliefs have extreme consequences because personal information can leaks out that can hurt and end peoples careers and it also can make people make bad decisions.

False beliefs can hurt and as well end peoples careers. Manipulating peoples beliefs systems with insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes can make personal information to slip out which cause people to lose there homes, it can cause bad reputations for something that's not true. For example theirs cyber bullying anybody post evidence of another person online and it doesn't have to be true but to other people in there mind they think the post is true. In 2009 during President Obamas campaign there was an allegation out that Obama was not a U.S citizen and his birth certificate was a forgery. Reports stated that Barack Obama was originally born in Kenya and became an Indonesian citizen. There were documents shown on television that could have impacted his career.

Erik Nisbet and R Kelly Garret argues in one of their conclusions which states" Even in best circumstances, fewer than a third of people will reserve their positions regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given. Even though people will stick by their beliefs but also it makes people choose bad decisions. When humans makes these decisions it can cause people get into financial situations for example scandals. The Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme, a lot of other investors invested in Bernie Madoff over a period of time and come to find out that those investors got scammed. People could also end up in jail.

Inconclusion Humans can be deceived easily by rumors and lies. R Kelly Garret and Erik Nisbit came up with conclusions why humans believe in false statement which is manipulating and people standing there ground on beliefs that are not true. I now understand that people will believe in things that they think is true even if its not and also people making false beliefs will never change. However in these situation there are always consequences, I believe that false beliefs can get people into bad situations and impact their lives.

Allegory the cave is about a Greek philosopher name Socrates who starts to imagine a world where people are imprisoned in a cave since their childhood and chained up from head to toe facing the wall most of their life. These prisoners only see the shadows on the wall which is caused by the fire and those shadows are the only thing that's real to the prisoners. Socrates then said one of the prisoners is freed from the chains and starts to discover that the shadows are not real. What the prisoner is starting to see is a whole new world he now sees real people, sunlight and realizes that the cave is not real. The prisoner returns back to the cave and tells the others about he saw but the other prisoners don't believe him.

My pace in life is similar to allegory the cave. I am a city person the only thing I knew about was the city just the prisoners only knew about shadows. My environment

Humans are easily being deceived by such false beliefs. In downtown Manhattan there is a proposal plan to build a mosque at the ground zero site but researchers at Ohio state university believe that people are being duped by these accusations and conducting a study to determine the weakness why as humans believe in cover up lies. 750 people have reported at least one rumor about the Islamic cultural center. R Kelly Garrett a researcher for Ohio state university states the reason why people believe in such lies it is because when subjects are presented with data that contradicts their beliefs they often paradoxically respond by sticking to their biases even more strongly. Two conclusions came up to this matter one conclusion was it is easy to manipulate people's belief systems with insinuating pictures or inflammatory quotes. Another conclusion is fewer than a third of people were willing to reserve their positions regardless of the contradictory evidence they were given. R Kelly Garrett's statement on paradoxically I agree with. There is data that contradicts humans beliefs.

R Kelly Garrett researched and cites the body studies showing that people are being presented data that contradicts people's beliefs I agree with his research. In 2001 two airplanes struck world trade center killing millions of people. President George W. Bush at the time sent the armed forces to Afghanistan and Iraq to get the people responsible for the attacks and to find weapons of mass destruction. But it wasn't true the real reason he sent the troops to Afghanistan and Iraq was to take control of the oil fields and during all those years there were no reports of weapons of mass destruction. The 9/11 story was a cover up so the government could save themselves.

I think it is a good thing that these investigators are conducting studies on the brain. The author writes that the investigators are determining the prefrontal cortex and other primal emotions light up or power down in these situations. It is my understanding that it is easy to play with people's emotions. For years I have seen people who can lie there way out of situations and make people believe their words that seem true but its really a lie also since George bush is the president the people are relying on him to protect the United States and the president can say anything wants because he has the trust of the people and trust is can emotion that anyone can take advantage of.

In conclusion I think humans are being duped with false data and rumors. People can easily believe something that seems true but its really a lie. it is very important that we as humans should watch out for false rumors and watch who we trust even if it is the government. Also continue with these investigations were in situations there are no false beliefs.

Arthur's writing ENG

This article I am reading is called Hype. hype is about advertisements being the most prevalent and toxic of the mental pollutants. Advertisements are all around the world, Ads can be posted on billboards, cars, stores and since Ads are now digital its being put as L.E.D signs. The author in this article made very good statements. One statement is "No longer are Ads confined on the usual places : Buses, billboards and stadiums", He also said that "I often used to hear Beethoven's ninth symphony play in my head now I hear that kid singing the Oscar Meyer wiener song". These statements that the author made I really agree with what he said, And Ads are being displayed everywhere.

Advertisements are ending up on places
